Three shapes, and no seasons

YS GOODS started with a single bag and a question: what would a leather bag look like if it were designed around what a woman actually carries, rather than around what a shop window wants to display?

The answer turned out to be smaller than the industry standard, and there are only three of them. Luna Mini is 18 cm and holds a phone, a card case and keys. Vesper is 26 cm and takes a tablet and an A5 notebook. Nocturne is a slouched 32 cm shoulder bag that swallows a laptop sleeve. If a fourth shape does not do a job the first three cannot, it does not get made.

Every piece is cut from suede-finished leather with the full grain still underneath, so it holds a structure instead of collapsing. The interiors are leather rather than polyester, the panel edges are stitched rather than folded and glued, and the hardware is gold-tone plated over solid metal rather than painted. Each bag carries a rolled handle and a detachable strap, which means one purchase covers two ways to carry it.

YS GOODS is the house brand of Meizhou Xingning Yisheng Department Store (Individual Business), a family-run department store based at Yide City Trade Plaza in Xingning, Meizhou, Guangdong. Where they are made

The bags are cut, stitched and finished in Guangdong, where the leather trade has been running for generations and the supply of good hides is still within walking distance of the workshop. Design decisions happen in the same room as the sampling, which is why a change to a strap length does not take a season to arrive.

How we sell

We do not run seasonal drops and we do not discount to clear stock, because there is no stock to clear. New colours arrive when the hide is right.
