This is the first bag I have owned where the inside is leather rather than some slippery fabric. The gold bar opens with one thumb, so I can get to a card while holding a coffee. It stands up on my desk on its own, which sounds small and is not.
Beautiful leather and the stitched back panel is a lovely detail nobody mentions. I took one star off only because I wish the strap were a little longer on a tall frame, but the bag itself is faultless.
Bought it as a work bag and it has quietly taken over weekends too. The flap keeps its shape after two months of daily use, and the tan has developed a slightly deeper tone at the corners that makes it look loved rather than worn.
The color is exactly as photographed - a warm caramel that works with black, cream and denim. Customer service answered my sizing question the same day. Would buy from this brand again without thinking.
Before you ask
No - Vesper is a mid-size handbag, not a work tote. It holds an iPad mini, a large phone, a card case, keys and a compact umbrella with room to spare. For laptops we would honestly point you elsewhere.
The shoulder strap adjusts through about 20 cm of range and can be fully detached, leaving the rolled top handle as the only carry option. Hardware is brushed gold-tone brass over steel.
The flap is cut with the suede's natural nap running to hold its curl. Store the bag upright with the flap closed and it keeps its line. Two years of daily-use samples in our workshop have not collapsed.
The leather interior wipes with a barely damp cloth. We finish the lining so makeup and ink do not soak in immediately, but treat any pen without a cap as an emergency.
