The rim really does stay open while you pack it, which is the detail that sold me and the one that keeps me using it. My 14-inch work laptop slides in flat and the handles have not budged after six weeks of commuting.

01Will a 14-inch laptop fit flat?

Yes - the centre section takes a 14-inch laptop flat against the back panel. A 16-inch machine will fit diagonally but we do not recommend it as a daily carry.

02How much weight is too much?

The handles are riveted over load-bearing webbing and tested to 6 kg comfortably. Past that you strain the stitching over time, so we say keep it under 6 kg.

03Does the tote stand up on its own?

It stands when packed and slouches gracefully when empty - the reinforced rim keeps the mouth open either way, which is the part most totes get wrong.

04Full-grain vs suede - which is easier?

Full-grain is the lower-maintenance option: scuffs buff out, it conditions twice a year, and rain beads off. Suede needs more care but has the softer hand feel.
